CBSE to Use Advanced Data Analytics to ensure Safe and Fair Examination
Use of Advanced data analytics to ensure fairness in CBSE administered examinations: Conduct of examination has to be conducted in a standardized & fair manner. While all efforts are being made to prevent the use of unfair means practices during the conduct of examinations in physical terms through surveillance by appointment of outside observers or flying squads and use of CCTVs.
Central Board of Secondary Education has decided to further improve it by using advanced data analytics to trace the cases/centers that have high chances of resorting to unfair means during the examinations.
A pilot analysis has been conducted on January 2021 CTET Exam (Central Teacher Eligibility Test) data in collaboration with CSF (Central Square Foundation) and Playpower Labs to develop algorithms to identify suspicious data patterns at the center & individual test taker level.
Based on the results of the analysis and the developed algorithm, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has decided that such analysis will be extended to other administered examinations.
Central Board of Secondary Education will use advanced data analytics to detect, respond to, and therefore prevent any irregularities in the academic test in all major CBSE administered examinations in the country in the long run.
Based on such analysis, the CBSE board aims to identify examination centers where the data indicates the existence of malpractices during the conduct of examinations.
After that, appropriate measures may be taken by the CBSE board to strengthen the reliability of the examinations and to prevent any such malpractices in the future.
It will be used to strengthen the credibility of the National Achievement Survey (NAS), Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET), and examinations conducted by the CBSE Board.
